Nutritional Counseling
Nutrition counseling is an ongoing process where an individual’s dietary intake is assessed in order to identify areas where change is needed. Here we provide information, educational materials, support, and follow-up to help the individual make and maintain the needed dietary changes.
Proper diet is the most important component of optimal health that is often completely overlooked in our current medical model. Coupled with the power of modern marketing practices that encourage us to purchase processed foods that have little nutritional value, many of us are struggling to consume even the most minimal amounts of vitamins and minerals. It should be no surprise that as the quality of our foods has decreased we are seeing an alarming increase in the vast array of chronic disease.
Dr. Weston A. Price discovered over 30 years ago that many of the chronic diseases of our modernized cultures were almost completely absent in indigenous cultures that consumed only primitive diets.
Nutrition counseling usually begins with an interview in which we will ask questions about a person's typical food intake. We then will utilize different methods to further assess dietary trends. After this information is collected we will discuss methods to modify the diet where appropriate as well as discuss possible supplementation. We all remember the saying, "you are what you eat", if we wish to live optimally and perform better, we must provide the body with the proper fuels needed to do so!
